There is no possibility of the monsoon's arrival this year until June 10th
Stormy rains are forecast starting June 1st; however, farmers should not rush into sowing.
Mumbai—The weather in the state has currently begun to undergo changes, and further shifts are expected during the week commencing June 1st. Specifically, forecasts indicate the formation of clouds in the afternoons—accompanied by some stormy rainfall—across the regions of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Central Maharashtra, and Khandesh. Light rainfall is also anticipated in the Konkan region. Furthermore, compared to the month of May, the maximum temperatures across the state are expected to decrease; however, in certain parts of Vidarbha—particularly East Vidarbha—maximum temperatures will continue to remain above the 40-degree mark. The upcoming stormy rainfall has no connection whatsoever to the monsoon, as the monsoon has not yet reached Kerala. As per the current situation, the arrival of the monsoon in most parts of the state is unlikely until at least June 10.
The Departments of Agriculture and Disaster Management appeal to farmers and the general public to implement appropriate preventive measures in view of potential weather changes.
- Farmers should not rush to sow their crops before the arrival of the monsoon, relying solely on stormy rains.
- During thunderstorms, citizens and farmers should ensure their own safety as well as that of their livestock. At such times, avoid standing under trees, under tin sheds, or near electrical transformers, utility poles, and power lines.
